Vitafoods Europe transition to a large-scale virtual event in September 2020

Update from June 3, 2020


In light of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, and in consultation with key stakeholders across the health and nutrition community, Vitafoods has made the difficult decision to cancel the live event Vitafoods Europe in Geneva, Switzerland, originally rescheduled for the 1-3 September 2020 and transition to a large scale virtual event, at the start of September.

This conclusion was not one that was reached easily, however, with the health and safety of our community in mind, as well as government and businesses restrictions on travel and gatherings, we made the proactive decision to act now, allowing our industry partners enough time to adjust their plans.

We know that our industry needs a forum to network, educate and grow their business, so we have decided to shift the live event to a virtual one, with the aim of providing a digital marketplace where the nutraceutical community can discover and showcase new products and innovations, connect with new and existing business partners, and share knowledge and best practice. Vitafoods Virtual Expo, a large-scale digital event with enhanced matchmaking opportunities, video networking and high-quality educational content, will be taking place from 7th to 11th of September 2020.

Update from May 14, 2020


The past several weeks have required our community to adapt quickly and find innovative solutions to ensure we continue to connect, do business, and support one another. As we move into the next few weeks and months in preparation for Vitafoods Europe in September, we will continue to find ways to adapt in the best interest of our community.

Last week, the Swiss government announced that that large-scale events involving more than 1000 people will remain prohibited until the end of August. The Federal Council will reassess the situation before the summer season. We are actively working with the Swiss government and Palexpo, our venue, to assess how we can optimally and safely host our exhibition in September.

Informa Markets has committed to the highest safety standards and we are working tirelessly to ensure the safest environment possible for all of our customers.

We know that this year’s event may not be able to take place in the same format as years prior. As restrictions are lifted, we will have a better idea of best-in-class biosecurity measures that we can put in place and what alternative models will best serve our community, with your wellbeing at the heart of our decision making.

We anticipate a further announcement from the Swiss government regarding large scale event restrictions on 27 May which will also help us finalise our approach.

We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more and formulate plans to ensure that Vitafoods Europe 2020 remains the go-to event for our industry.

Update from March 10, 2020


In light of the ongoing COVID-19 health situation, we have taken the difficult decision to postpone Vitafoods Europe 2020 until 1-3 September 2020.

This conclusion is not one that has been reached easily. However, following consultation with our stakeholders, and taking the continually evolving health concerns and travel restrictions into consideration, we are agreed the postponement is the best course of action.

By acting now, we hope to remove the uncertainty affecting exhibitors and visitors and allow them to make more concrete business decisions.

The event in September will still take place at Palexpo, Geneva, Switzerland, and all existing registrations and commitments remain in place.

We understand how important Vitafoods Europe is to the industry and how much effort goes into preparing for it and so, in this unprecedented situation and difficult time, thank our community for its understanding and support. We’re looking forward to coming together later in the year to continue to drive our industry forwards.

Update from March 4, 2020


We wanted to reassure you that we are and will continue to closely monitor developments of Novel Coronavirus, as your health, safety and wellbeing are our utmost priority. We are therefore following all safety advice and precautions as recommended by local Departments of Health, as well as the World Health Organisation (WHO), seriously. There are currently no restrictions regarding travel to or from Geneva. We are actively working on alternate solutions with attendees and exhibitors from affected areas to ensure the safety of the event.  As such, for now, customers can be reassured that while we are monitoring the situation as an international business and staying up to date on official sources of updates and guidance from the government and authorities, our team is working hard to ensure the running of a safe event. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed with any developments.

 

Attendees are recommended to maintain good hand, respiratory and personal hygiene. Vitafoods Europe is working closely with Palexpo to enhance preventative measures at the event, to ensure the highest standards of cleanliness and the following hygiene measures will be in place at the show:

  • Frequent cleaning and disinfection with specific attention to high-contact zones (doorknob, handrail, etc), public areas and washrooms
  • 4 hourly air extraction, increasing the circulation of air
  • Sanitisers will be provided in all registration areas, show-floor conference theatres, the media centre, organisers offices and café areas and registration areas will be continuously cleaned
  • There will be an onsite infirmary and an on-site doctor will be available for first aid, if needed

Additional communication from the official Swiss government will be provided at entry points and in several locations around the exhibition.

Our sympathies at this time are with those affected in China, and all around the world. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming you at Vitafoods Europe in May.

Update from February 25, 2020


Vitafoods is closely monitoring developments of the Novel Coronavirus, which first emerged from Wuhan, China, in December 2019. The health and safety of our colleagues and customers is always our top priority. As such, we are following all safety advice and precautions as recommended by local Departments of Health, as well as the World Health Organisation (WHO), seriously. Relatively few cases of Coronavirus have been found outside of China. Several countries have put in place screening measures at airports and points of entry, and the Chinese government has put in place measures to limit the spread of the virus within the country too. For now, customers can be reassured that while we are monitoring the situation as an international business and staying up to date on official sources of updates and guidance from the government and authorities.

  • Many international airports are screening visitors as they enter/leave the country

Vitafoods Europe 2020 in Geneva has transitioned to a large-scale virtual event, the Vitafoods Virtual Expo taking place on 7-11 September 2020, followed by the Vitafoods Virtual Summit, on 15-17 September.

All attendees are advised to:


  • Wash your hands frequently
  • Practice respiratory hygiene
  • Cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing with a tissue and immediately throw into a bin
